The 5 page illustrated pdf document that explains what TLM's Fighting Chance system is all about. This will explain what you will learn in classes, seminars, bootcamps, etc. with pricing and photos.

Fighting Chance Combat Systems focuses on training its students in the environments in which violent assaults commonly occur. Emphasis is on awareness and the application of simple and effective techniques that anyone can apply without extensive and time-consuming training.

Created by Chief Instructor Jeffrey C. Moldovan, stuntman/coordinator, fight choreographer, former bouncer and bodyguard, Moldovan has developed a personal defense system that HAS BEEN PROVEN in actual street encounters... on numerous occasions.

He and his group of talented and dedicated instructors promise to give you the most intense, exciting and realistic personal defense experience available.

Ten basic techniques, that anyone can learn to use effectively in a short amount of time, become an arsenal that can be used in an infinite variety of hostile encounters. The same techniques can be used while standing, lying down on belly or back, up against the wall or in a car or airline seat. They also adapt to any form of weapon used against you, whether knife, gun or club, in front, behind or to the side of you, as long as the weapon is in reach...

YOU HAVE A FIGHTING CHANCE!

Man has always been in conflict with man and the elements. Man has killed man since the first struggle for food and shelter. Man has killed man out of fear and ignorance. Fear of a different color, god or belief that threatens their own. Wars have always been fought when a group of men were threatened someway by another group of men. Either for food, shelter, protection of loved ones or needed resources to aid in their survival.

Each century has seen violence, slaughter and war. All perceived by the intimate connection involved by those engaged in that war. Terrorism in one form or another has always been a tool used to intimidate and influence those with opposing views. THE DIFFERENCE is, that never before in history has awareness and information of those horrors been so accessible so quickly. Our minds are like sponges that absorb information. Never before in the history of man has so much information been available so quickly for our brains to absorb. Much of it is bad or horrific news. Our brains are saturated with catastrophe and calamity, not only in our small area of existence, but globally. We are inundated with horrors from around the world.

Our brains/sponges are overloaded with the sewage of violence, rape, murder, terrorism, kids killing other kids, mothers killing kids, environmental disasters, dire economic forecasts, doomsday predictions etc. And never before in history has man had so much idle time to absorb this cancerous information. Our survival has become technologically based instead of self sufficient. Our amazingly adaptive brains are heavy with sewage…sometimes we just have to stop and wring them out. Wring out the sewage and make room for fresh, clean water. The challenge for each of us, is to find the pools of clean water among the sewage.

A college-prep course that has some real kick

October 10, 2007|By Wes Smith, Tribune Newspapers and The Orlando Sentinel

ORLANDO — Jennifer Woodbury of Orlando sent her daughter Abby to

college with the usual boxes of clothes, dorm decorations and snacks.

But Abby, 18, also headed for campus packing a punch, not to mention

an eye gouge and a throat jab.

Concerned about reports of date rapes, carjackings and assaults on

young women everywhere, Woodbury signed up her daughter for a nononsense

back-to-school special: Self-Defense 101.

Abby and a group of friends from Lake Highland Preparatory

School learned their “ABCDEs” — “Attack him. Blind him. Choke

him. Drop him. Escape.” — in the college-prep course at TLM’s

Fighting Chance Combat Systems.

This martial-arts school in Orlando charges $250 for a two-day, 10-

hour course that teaches women methods for escaping armed

assailants.

Self-Defense 101 trains students to handle attack scenarios including

attempted date rape, parking-lot and dorm-room attacks, bar and club

assaults, carjackings and muggings at ATMs. Additional training

includes techniques for profiling potential date rapists and

precautionary measures to avoid being drugged, stalked or abducted.

“Abby is going to be on her own for the first time, and there are

criminals out there, so I definitely feel better sending her off with these

skills,” said Woodbury, who may join other mothers in taking the

course.

They were led to Fighting Chance by Mary Ann Gruenberg of Winter

Park, Fla., who sought a self-defense program for her daughter,

Katherine, 18, after seeing news footage on the abduction of Kelsey

Smith. The Kansas teenager was slain after being kidnapped in a

Target parking lot in June.

Brian Manowitz

I have been a student here at the safehouse for about 3 and a half or 4 months now. There have been many many things that have blown my mind with this system. I will try to share some of them with you.

First of all the system in a nutshell is primarily the use of 6 main basic tactics to deflect, trap, and disarm either an armed or a bare handed attacker. We are not talking ancient martial arts weapons here, we are talking guns, knives, ball bats, sticks, bottles, etc… Modern system for a modern life.

In addition to this we learn a huge variety of other things as well. Everything from home invasion scenarios… the safe house has many scenario rooms such as a bedroom, living room, kitchen, alleyway, bar, and plane fuselage, to name a few. We learn tactical shooting with airsoft guns. We learn to be aware at all times/the mental nature of predators. We learn an incredible amount of ways to effortlessly manipulate an attackers body. We learn how to get out of captive situations, And much much more.

Not a class has gone by where my mind has not been blown in some way.

We also learn truly effective striking. There are really no closed fist strikes that we focus on. This is good. In ultimate fighting championship one thing you are not allowed to do is….open fist strikes. Thats because they can end the fight in 1 hit and lead to other strikes from which the opponent would not recover from.

Eye Gouges, face/eye rakes, neck/throat strikes, groin strikes, leg/knee strikes, ear boxing, and effective knife cuts are all some of the attacks we focus on to cause serious mechanical disruption.

Punch someone in the face and you have a pretty good chance of breaking your hand and little chance that the 1 strike will take the person out.

Come on in, in your very first lesson…weather you sign up or not…you will learn and practice a single technique that god forbid might save your life one day.

Below is an account of a TLM’s Fighting Chance instructor, Taylor Lovrien, who flew from Minnesota to Orlando 5 years ago to become a certified instructor of our system. Instructor Certification is a 40 hour, comprehensive program that teaches our defensive tactics against all manner of armed, and unarmed assaults and threats against single or multiple armed assailants. Taylor met Jenn, his current girlfriend and her daughter, Briana while going through the program. He brought Jenn in as his test student. She picked it up very quickly as well and then brought her 11 year old daughter in to train as well. Both Jenn and Bri have been and are featured in many of our video clips.

As I’ve responded many times, I’ve never needed, wanted or asked for anyone to survive a violent encounter just to validate the weapons disarming system developed by my son, Thomas Lee Moldovan ( whom the system is named after ) and myself. Every instructor of our system, devotes 100% to making TLM’s Fighting Chance Defensive Tactics, the most effective REALITY BASED self defense system available today. The below account is testimony of a frightening, armed encounter with two thugs threatening to kill Instructor Lovrien for his truck keys and cash.

Note: The kids, 6’4 Taylor is talking about, were teen gang bangers. The one armed was estimated by Taylor to be about 6’2. You’ll note Taylor did many things right because he survived by disarming the bad guy. But the one thing and most critical thing done wrong, was to be distracted on the phone in an unknown and unsafe area. Awareness and Avoidance are the 2 most critically important conditions to exercise and train for.

Recount of the assault

I am working as an insurance adjuster in St Louis, MO. With all the recent storms we have been extremely busy working day and night. I go to some pretty bad neighborhoods to investigate damage. On 05/26/2011 I finished scoping a claim in a rough part of the city. I let my guard down for a minute, I was talking on the phone while making sure that my ladder was locked up. When I turned around i was surprised to see 2 kids pointing a gun at me. They demanded my keys and wallet. As I reached for them the guy with the gun got in close pressing the small framed pistol against my face telling me that I was a dead man. All I could think of was that I would not see my loved ones again. At that point the I felt my only option was to fight for my life. The gun was small so I went for the wrist with my left hand pulling the gun over my right sholder while palm striking him under the chin as I pulled him in. (SLAP TO SHOULDER TRAP)

The gun flew out of his hand. With his arm still trapped I used my leverage (PALM HEEL STRIKE TO CHIN) to slam his head into the street. I turned to take on the other guy but he was already running. I quickly got into my truck and got out of there. The adrenaline was going so hard I had a hard time speaking. As soon as I could I contacted the police and filed a report with the St Louis County Police Department, file #11-30189. I have no doubt that TLM’s Fighting Chance Combat Systems saved my life. The countless hours and repetition helped me to react the way that I did and gave me the tools to come out on top. I take no pleasure in hurting another person and I can’t explain what it was like to be in that situation. Words simply can’t explain it. Since then I have had to relive the event every night in my dreams and I can’t make it go away. I am still working in that area and have been extremely alert and aware of my surroundings. Thanks again for teaching me your system.

Taylor Lovrien

Instructor/TLM’s Fighting Chance

NOTE FROM CHIEF INSTRUCTOR MOLDOVAN:

Instructor Lovrien is a formidable looking, athletically built young man who stands 6’4″.

Probably weighing in at around 200 lbs.

Most people would look at him and think, “not someone to mess with.”

Remember : An armed predator, no matter what age, size, or sex, always thinks the weapon is the equalizer and more powerful than the prey he chooses.

Also remember that the bad guy always picks time and place. Even if you ARE ARMED, the predator seldom gives the intended victim opportunity to deploy the weapon. It’s the element of surprise and terror that they count on to make their dirty work ugly and fast.

Train Body and Brain first. All other weapons are accessories and must be available and in hand to be of any use.

I’m often asked by gun toting skeptics,” How good”s your stuff against my gun? “

My reply, as I quickly stop my eye jab inches from surprised and wide eyes is, ” Where’s your gun now?”

I finish the statement with,” and what makes you think I can’t shoot? “

Taylor Louvrien, an instructor of TLM’s Fighting Chance, was held up at gunpoint

Thursday night by two thugs. One shoved a handgun in his face and threatened to

kill him if he didn’t give up his cash and keys to his truck. Taylor disarmed him and

proceeded to deliver some bad karma on his thug ass….while the other ran.

Taylor flew to Orlando from Minnesota to pursue instructor training in our system

that he heard about from my friend, stunt coordinator Artie Malesci. They met

sheerly by accident in a restaurant in Minnesota while Artie was visiting his wife

Barbra’s parents who lived there. Taylor met Jenn , his current girlfriend while in

Orlando taking the instructor program.

Taylor brought Jenn into Safe House as a test student to teach under my

supervision along with another instructor trainee, Marty Joachim. Jenn and her 11

year old daughter began training with us also and are featured in numerous videos

we do. All are extremely talented and often help me teach.

Taylor recently moved back to Minnesota looking for work and planning to start a

life there with Jenn and Bri. It was there on Thursday night he was confronted with

the very real and terrifying threat that could have turned out tragically for so many.

He survived a deadly threat and he and Jenn both credit TLM’s Fighting Chance for

his ability to overcome the threat.

In thinking about everything that led up to that life altering moment: all the

perceived coincidences, the chance meetings, the discussions that provoked a

young, hard working, former tree trimmer to travel over a 1000 miles and spend

considerable money to become an instructor of a self defense system he’d never

seen or heard of prior to his meeting Artie.

I swear…with all the poop being flung about the Zombie Apocalypse, I’m gonna start a self defense course focused on fighting zombies….I’d rather take on 10 slow moving, unthinking undead mofos than a punk with a grudge and a gun.

They’re rotting as they walk. Their muscles are atrophying, bones brittle….brain dead and cannot multi-task. Blind’em so they can’t see you, smash their noses in so they can’t smell you, knock their teeth out so they can’t eat or bite you, shatter their knees and shins so they can’t pursue you…or simply carry a big ass machete, axe or butcher knife and separate the only threatening thing about them from their body….have it mounted and sell on ebay for a few mil.

People spend more time concerned with imaginary threats than the very real threats that victimize people every day. Robbery, rape, assault and murder..every minute of every day…worldwide…

That’s REAL folks.

Zombies are NOT !

WTF….I just do not understand the way people think.

Sorry for venting….feel better now.

The real zombies are the people wasting their time and money worrying about threats that do not exist anywhere but in the idle minds of those that need something unreal to focus their fear on….because they’re afraid of facing and acknowledging the REAL threats to our world. Drugs, Thugs, Rapists, Killers and Terrorists.
